Builder Cabinets Without the Builder-Grade Compromise
Most cabinets sold to builders are chosen for one reason: price per unit. The result is particleboard boxes, stapled joints, and hinges that loosen before the second walkthrough. Modernform supplies all-wood cabinets at the same price point — in stock, in volume, and backed by a lifetime warranty.
We ship from our Carrollton warehouse to builders, developers, and general contractors across Dallas–Fort Worth, statewide in Texas, and nationwide.
What "Builder Grade" Actually Means
Builder grade is an industry term for material chosen to meet code at the lowest cost. In cabinetry, it usually means particleboard or thin plywood boxes, butt-joint construction, side-mount drawer glides, and a finish that chips during install.
The term describes a price tier, not a requirement. Nothing about a spec home or a multi-family build forces you into particleboard. It became the default because most suppliers only stock two things: cheap cabinets and custom cabinets with a twelve-week lead time.
We built our line to sit where neither of those does — custom-grade construction, stock availability, wholesale pricing.
How Our Cabinets Compare to Standard Builder-Grade
Most cabinets sold at builder pricing are built from particleboard or thin plywood. The drawer boxes are stapled together at butt joints, the glides are side-mount and stop short of the back, and the hinges adjust two ways if they adjust at all. The finish is thin enough to chip while the crew is setting them, and the warranty usually runs one to three years.
Ours are built from solid wood and plywood. Drawer boxes are dovetailed. Glides are full-extension with soft close, so the drawer pulls all the way out and shuts quietly. Hinges are four-way adjustable with soft close, which means your installer can square a door on site instead of living with a gap. The finish is applied at the factory in multiple steps, and the warranty is lifetime.
The other difference is availability. Builder-grade cabinets are usually ordered and waited on. Ours are stocked in Carrollton and ready to pull.
The comparison that matters on a bid sheet is cost per unit against callback cost. Cabinets that fail inspection or generate punch-list items cost more than the line item saved.
Stocked for Production Schedules
A build schedule does not wait on cabinetry. We hold roughly $7 million in inventory and produce over 10,000 kitchens a month across three manufacturing facilities, so the sizes and finishes you specified are on the floor when you need them.
That matters most on repeat work. If you are running the same floor plan across twenty units, you can pull the same package twenty times without a discontinued finish forcing a mid-project substitution.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are builder-grade cabinets worth it?
Builder grade describes a price tier, not a quality standard. The problem is not the tier — it is that most cabinets sold at that tier use particleboard and hardware that fails early. All-wood cabinets at builder pricing exist; they are just harder to find in stock.
Do you sell to builders only, or to homeowners too?
Both. Builders, developers, and contractors get volume pricing. Homeowners can buy directly at wholesale pricing through our Carrollton showroom.
Can you match finishes across multiple phases of a project?
Yes. Our stock finishes stay in production year over year, and for multi-phase work we reserve material against your schedule so phase three matches phase one.
Do you supply outside Texas?
Yes. We ship nationwide and supply a dealer network across the country. Pickup and local delivery are Texas-based, out of Carrollton.
